Della Akins

Della was born on June 20, 1938 in Plains, Kansas, to Maudie Elizabeth and Clyde Caywood. She was the oldest of 3 children. When she was 12, her father was killed in an auto accident. Later her mother married Charles Weldon Kiker who raised these three and a daughter of their own. Weldon is 90 and lives in the VA Rest Home in Amarillo, Texas.

Della married Olen C. Akins, a Navy man in Honolulu, Hawaii, on January 4, 1957. They had 3 children, Stacy, Lance, and Weldon, and raised a granddaughter Jessica A. Cochran. They have 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandsons. Della was a strong woman, a great wife, and wonderful friend. She is now resting eternally with her LORD and Savior.
