Ruth V. Fleming
Beloved daughter, wife and mother passed peacefully into God’s hands on Saturday morning March 28, 2009 at her home in Juno Beach, FL after a long illness. Ruth survived her loving and devoted husband of 47 years, Paul M. Fleming who passed in 1987.
As a young girl, Ruth struggled with health issues, but overcame them to become an outstanding fencer who earned a spot on the US Olympic Team in 1940. World War II interrupted her fencing career but she pursued her passion and, for many years, taught fencing.
Ruth was a devoted daughter and daughter-in-law and spent many years running a business while providing care for both her mother and her mother-in-law until their passing. Ruth was compassionate and caring and made many sacrifices to assure that her mother and mother-in-law had the highest quality of life until their passing in 1987.
Following in her mother’s footsteps, Ruth became a successful business woman and a community leader, Church member and Sunday school teacher. Ruth was passionate about reaching out to and teaching young people. Ruth was a lifelong student of religion, philosophy and politics who attended University courses until very recently.
Ruth leaves behind her daughter Shelley Fleming-Hall and her husband Richard Hall of Stow, MA and her son Paul Martin Fleming and his wife Penny Li Fleming of North Palm Beach, FL.
