Valencia Voth Paulus
Valencia Lynn Voth was born to Lewis Wayne and Freda Wilma Schmidt Voth on October 21, 1956, in Lynwood, California. She peacefully passed away on January 20th, 2022, in Twin Falls, ID. Valencia was the eldest of nine siblings. She enjoyed a carefree childhood with her sisters, playing in the California sunshine. Valencia went to Winton Elementary School in Merced County, CA. She gave her heart to God and was baptized on January 31st, 1968, by Minister John Weins. At the age of 14 Valencia moved with her family to Buhl, Idaho.
She started her family and began her nursing career. She became an RN and spent her life caring for and serving others. Her patients were met with skill and unconditional love. Valencia’s love for the Lord shone through her service to others. Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life. Spending time together as a family was a priority to her.
She moved to Bonners Ferry, Idaho, in January 1996 where she lived for 22 years. She loved her home in the mountains, and they were her sanctuary.
Her love of travel took her all over the world. With each journey, she was eager for the next adventure. She especially enjoyed her medical mission trips to Haiti, and her service as a nurse with Summit Ministries in Colorado.
In spring of 2018 she returned to Southern Idaho where she cared for her parents. She retired from 38 years of nursing in October 2020 and realized her dream of opening a bookstore, coffee & bake shop; BookHaven. She would always say, “A reader lives a thousand lives”. She expressed her heart and mind through poetry.
Those left to cherish fond memories are loving husband James Paulus and children Shane & Rachel Koehn, Jonathan & Starla Koehn of Buhl, ID, and Michaela & Marcus Burt of Bonners Ferry, ID. Nine grandchildren, Jamin and Rochelle, Brooke and Jace, Samantha, Bethany, Jarek, Jesse, and Morgan.
Her mother Freda Voth, and siblings Roxann & Kent Wiebe, Buhl, ID, Lynette & Kim Mastre, Charlo, MT, Faylene & Greg Wiebe, Troy, ID, Patricia & Michael Weimer, Meridian, ID, Tonya & Bruce Amoth, Wendell, ID, Lazetta & Travis Unruh, Macon, MS, Shawna & Ryan Peachey, Bonners Ferry, ID, and Toby & Chelsie Voth, Twin Falls, ID. Special Aunt Leona Kane, Winton, CA. She was preceded in death by her father, Lewis Voth.
A viewing will held Monday, the 24th of January, at Reynolds Funeral Chapel in Twin Falls, ID., from 6-8pm MST.
The funeral service is Tuesday, the 25th of January, at the Filer Church of God in Christ Mennonite at 1030am MST, in Filer, Idaho.
