LTC Michael C. Cullen
LTC Michael C. Cullen, USA (Ret.), 77, passed away, on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, after a long illness, surrounded by his loving family.
Michael was born in Bahia, Brazil to educators, the late Arthur “Jim” and Constance Cullen. He was raised in Fayette, MO and in Stockton, CA; attending Lincoln High School in Stockton (1964).
A proud veteran, Michael served in the Army 101st Airborne during the Vietnam war and later in the Army reserves. After returning from Vietnam, he went on to graduate from Humboldt State College in Arcata, CA where he met his wife of 54 years, Toni. After their marriage, he attended Thunderbird Graduate School in Phoenix, and then began his long career in international business. He worked with NCH Corporation in Canada, England, and Italy and he and Toni retired to Pensacola after 30 years. Before retiring from NCH he went on to attend the Army War College in Carlisle, PA and then retired from the Army reserves as LTCol. Michael loved history and after his retirement he went on to earn his third master’s degree in history from the University of West Florida.
Michael had a passion for the military, people, history, books, his family and his cats. He would work for hours in his vast library when he was not on the golf course with friends. Michael loved life and made life fun for his family and friends with his positive happy spirit. His infectious smile and laughter turned ordinary moments into extraordinary ones. He was big hearted, generous, and accepted everyone with an open heart, and open arms. He was greatly loved and will be forever missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his older brother, John; his nephew, JJ; as well as a brother-in-law, Larry Mast.
Michael is survived by his loving wife, Toni; sister-in-law, Janice Bozant of Pensacola; brothers-in-law, Steve (Donna) in Eugene, OR and Ric Mast in Pensacola; sister-in-law, Judy Cullen; as well as his nieces, nephews, and cousins whom he loved very much.
