Richard K. Roy, age 81, of Huron, passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at his home in Huron, South Dakota.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, June 23, 2023 at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Huron. A private burial at St. Martin Cemetery will be held .
Richard Keith Roy was born on July 25, 1941 in Belcourt, North Dakota to parents Alexander and Joyce (Henderson) Roy. Richard and his family moved to Huron, where he attended St. Theresa School and Huron High School. After high school, Richard served in the United States Army from 1960-1969 and was honorably discharged. He lived in Golden, Colorado from 1969-1978 where he worked for the Colorado Highway Patrol. He moved to Huron where he was employed with the Huron Post Office.
In his free time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the VFW and Holy Trinity Catholic Parish.
He is survived by his siblings, Ronald (Laurie) Roy of Huron, Dennis (Jodi) Roy of Brookings, Cheryl Wheeler of Sioux Falls, Kathy Watson of Bismarck, Alexis (John) McEnelly of Huron, Duane (Leanne) Roy of Huron, Beth (Greg) Wilcox of Sioux Falls, and Carol (Tom) Gietzen of Huron; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers-in-law, Dennis Watson and Ray Wheeler; and special nephew Reggie Roy.
