Tony Gieszler
Tony Gieszler, 93, of Kennewick, WA, passed away on April 30, 2016, due to congestive heart failure. His loving wife Joyce was by his side.
Tony was born on September 7, 1922 in Ashley North Dakota, to Jakob and Christina Gieszler. He was the 6th of their 14 children. In 1945 Tony moved to Yakima, WA, where he met his first wife Hazel Schneider. They had two sons; Jeff and Jerry. The family then moved to Portland, where Tony worked as a body fender man.
Tony and Hazel later divorced, and he moved to Lodi, CA. This is where Tony met the love of his life, Joyce (Flaherty) Roberts. They were married in 1962, and Tony, Joyce, and stepson Doug, moved to the Tri-Cities, where they have been living for the last 53 years.
Tony was very outgoing. In his younger years, he and Joyce spent many Friday evenings dancing and visiting with friends at the Elks Club. Tony was an avid outdoorsman. Some of his happiest times were spent hunting, fishing, and golfing with his sons and brothers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, and 5 brothers. Tony is survived by his wife Joyce; sons, Jeff (Debbie) Gieszler; Jerry (Patrice) Anthony; and Doug (Kathy) Roberts. His grandchildren are Brian (Sarah) Gieszler; Stephanie (Erik) Best; Nichole Roberts; Cory Roberts; and Martin (Courtney) Roberts. His great grandchildren are Kaden and Jaxon Best; Brighton Gieszler, Todd and Adrian Holgate; and Mackenzie and Marcus Roberts. He is also survived by brothers, Edwin, Eugene, Jakob, and Larry; sisters, Lena Flaherty, and Lola Erickson.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 5:30 p.m., at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Richland, WA.
