September 2004

The campground at F. E. Warren Air Force Base at Cheyenne was home for 5 days.  We caught up on lots of tasks around the house, played a little golf, and visited the Capital, downtown Cheyenne and several museums: The Cheyenne Depot Museum, Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum and the Nelson Museum of the West.  If you've been following our travels, you've seen the Herky statues in Coralville, Iowa, the bear statues in Helena, Montana and the horse statues in Minot, North Dakota.  Cheyenne has cowboy boot statues are various places around town.  Like the other cities, the statues will be auctioned off at some point.

A whole herd of pronghorn elk spend a lot of time on the golf course.  Like the deer we see at our Lake Pointe RV Resort in Texas, these animals let you approach within 15-20 feet before they scamper away.  Onn our first day out, we got caught on the 13th hole in a hail storm.
