Springfield, Illinois
A stop in Springfield is not much out of our way, and we always enjoy Rich and Lori's company. Rich is one of Terry's Turas authors (Theft of Ohio 1783 - 1795), and the four of us have become great friends. Rich took us to some spots around Springfield dealing with Lincoln's life that we had not seen before, including a trip to New Salem, where Lincoln lived as a young man. Unfortunately, when we left, the RV had to be towed to a Freightliner shop to have the engine checked. It turned out to be relatively minor (didn't cost an arm and a leg to fix!!)
