Gerry's cousin (several times removed) Esther now lives with her daughter in Cedar Rapids, just up the road from Jim & Vicki. We have managed to see her each time we go through there. This year was special because she turned a hundred years old. We brought her cupcakes and flowers to help her celebrate. Her daughter Nancy took her back home for a bigger celebration a little later. We are so glad that we went, because she fell not long after that and passed away.
Esther Welsh, 100, of Hiawatha, formerly of Graham, Iowa, was born In October, 1914 and died November 7, 2014 at the Hiawatha Care Home, just weeks after celebrating her 100th birthday. She is survived by a daughter, Nancy of Cedar Rapids, IA.
