Marine Corps Marathon

The weather for the marathon could not have been any better!  We were up early to head down to Crystal City to catch the Metro.  All of us had Metro Day passes (thanks to Vicki & Jim), and it was the only way to get to various spots on the course - other than walking!  Besides the 30,000 runners, nearly 100,000 spectators were expected to turn out.  Our family contingent of 10 managed to get to a few spots along the way - as did the IBMers who came to support Vicki.  Mom & Dad met her at Mile 4, 9, 18, and 25 loaded with PowerAde, candy bars, etc.  Her goal was to run 10-minute miles to finish around 4 hours and 20 minutes.  She did it in 4 hours and 24 minutes!  Jim ran the 10K and finished in 58 minutes and then managed to get to the 23-mile marker to cheer Vicki on there.  We all met at the Family Link Up spot after the race, then waited in line for a shuttle bus back over to Crystal City, where we listened to a concert and visited together.    Gerry managed to hang tightly onto the camera and avoided getting in all but one of the pictures!!!
