Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada

August 2005

Thunder Bay was the first stop in two weeks with no family to meet, so we were back to being tourists again.  In the downtown area at a Veterans Memorial we met four Canadian World War II veterans decked out in medals for a photo shoot for the local paper.  They have been invited to present a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Ottawa at the 60th anniversary of V.J. Day.  We also met Mr. & Mrs. S.J. Shaffer (uncle to Paul Shaffer of Letterman) who had donated a pair of anchors for the memorial.   We also visited McKay Scenic Outlook high over the city, but it was too overcast to see much.
