Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada

August 2005

Halifax is a bustling seaport city.  One of the highlights of the city is the Citadel, Canada's most-visited National Historic Site.  Students take on the roles of soldiers, carrying out the fort's military routines as they were in 1869-71.  The site also has wonderful views of the city and harbor.  We drove a little south of the city along the coast to Peggy's Cove, a tourist spot with a lighthouse that functions as a Canadian Post Office during the summer.  It was socked in with fog when we got there, but still quite picturesque.
