Sunshine
brightened our first few days in San Diego. Bert & Darrell, Navy friends
from a 60's tour on Okinawa and later on Guam, brought their RV to Admiral Baker
Field to spend the weekend with us. Their son Dan was the San Diego
policeman shot in the line of duty and paralyzed in November, 2003. As you
can imagine, it has been a traumatic time for the whole family. Lots of
prayer chains have included him and are much appreciated. Dan looks great.
We had not seen his sister Tricia since she was a young girl, so it was a treat
to meet her husband and son Kevin. Her daughter was busy elsewhere so we
didn't get to meet her this time. Bert also had us out to their home in
Oceanside where she whipped up a wonderful meal (she's always been a great cook)
and we got to meet her friend Judy, her sister Joyce and her mother.

Bob & Mike, Navy friends from before Terry's time, came to
visit us at our spot. Niece Charlene, always on the go, brought Jim and
Betty (her Mom) to meet us for lunch one day. Chris and Cheri, Navy
friends from our first Corpus Christi tour, also took time out from their busy
schedule to go out to dinner with us. And last, but not least, we found
time to play a little golf at Admiral Baker Field.
