Our next stop was at a campground
just south of Vancouver where we could easily make day trips in different
directions. One of the nearby areas that caught our attention was Langley.
Brochures tout Langley as the Horse Capital of B.C. - with 7,000 horses and
equine industry valued at $77 million a year. That was enough to whet
Gerry's appetite for more information. The brochure included what turned
out to be a 7-8 year old photo of Wendee Christante and her all-female draft
horse musical ride, Canadian Clyde Ride, headquartered at Langley's Cedar
Springs Ranch. But no phone number or address was given and it took a
little detective work to even find her. But, of course, we did! She
was so gracious and showed us around her place. Gerry got to get up close
and personal with the Clydes - Terry, too. In fact, we have been invited
back to watch a practice session - and of course we will go! And take more
photos.
