Although we were in Pierre for only a few hours in the middle of the day, we actually saw quite a bit of the capital building and area. Our main goal was to do a little family research and when we finished, we took a quick tour of the capitol building. Its a beautiful building and a lot of effort went into restoring it. Just across a bridge in Fort Pierre, is a monument to Casey Tibbs, one of the greatest all around cowboys and bull rider. Between 1949 and 1959, he won a record six National Saddle-Bronc Riding Championships, two National All-around Cowboy Championships and one National Bareback Riding Championship.
