Hannibal, Missouri

May 2004

Gerry has fond memories of Mark Twain's boyhood stories, so we stopped overnight near Hannibal and spent a morning there.  After a wonderful breakfast at the Beck Thatcher Restaurant, the first order of the day was to climb 251 steps up to the lighthouse at the top of Cardiff Hill.  We climbed, and climbed, and climbed some more, only to discover another whole set of steps to climb.  That was definitely our exercise for the day

There's a very nice museum with several buildings to go through and many quaint shops along Main Street.
