Glacier National Park (Montana)

August 2004

Glacier National Park is north from Rollins and Kallispell.   We drove the 52-mile Road of the Sun across the mountains to St. Mary, where we had lunch, then returned the same way.   With a different perspective coming back, the return trip was every bit as enjoyable.  Many turnouts are available for cars and other vehicles (no big RVs allowed) to stop and enjoy the incredible vistas.   Not for the faint-hearted, the two-lane road hugs the mountain with edges that fall away into valleys that go on for miles and miles.  This is THE most beautiful stretch of road we have ever encountered in our journeys in the last three years.   Even the photographs do not do it justice.
