Washington, D.C. Area

2003

Andrews AFB was our next camping spot.  We were tucked in between two fairways near the golf course.  But with the miserable weather, we didn't get a chance to enjoy any golf.   It was a great location for getting around the beltway to see everyone as well as to get into D.C.  They didn't have a modem hookup that was working, however.  Really cramps my style when I can't get online.

It's been 14 years since we left the area, but there are lots of friends still here, as well as a little bit of family.  Terry's niece, Lindsey, works for Senator Patty Murray.  What a treat it was to meet the Senator, as well as to make an 8:00 p.m. visit to the Senate Gallery to watch a roll call vote.  Most of the senators were there.  Terry's nephew, Steve, also lives in Gaithersburg.  Jan & I.J. are old Navy friends from a 1974 tour with them in New Orleans.  I.J. is a newscaster for NBC.    Vince is our favorite Irishman and we met him for lunch at The Dubliner on Capitol Hill.  He was wonderfully supportive to the whole family when my mother was ill in 1979 and 1980.  Bill was the Ship Design Manager on Terry's first project in D.C.  Michele, Patty and Kathy all worked for Terry at one time or another.
