Savannah, Georgia

2003

We actually drove sixty miles past Savannah to a campground recommended by some folks we met at Three Flags, the Oaks at South Point.

There was not much nearby.  Beaufort, South Carolina was more than 20 miles away, but located there is Parris Island where the Marines train recruits and they have a golf course and a driving range that we checked out.

Who is that on the driving range?

We drove into Savannah early one morning, took a trolley tour of the city, then went back and walked through the historic part of the city.  Spring is beautiful time to visit; the many squares are a riot of color with many flowers in bloom.  Along the Savannah River, where cotton warehouses once lined the entire area, is a revitalized waterfront, housing a variety of shops, pubs and many wonderful places to eat.
