Roseburg, Oregon

2002

We left Redding, California on July 22nd, 2002 and arrived in Roseburg, Oregon that same afternoon.  Friends of niece Carol McLaughlin's son, Todd, run a campground about ten miles outside of town where we stayed for three days.  We've been through the area many times over the years and are always impressed by how beautiful the area is.  We took the opportunity to take an afternoon to drive across the mountains to Coquille and Coos Bay where Gerry spent some wild times after high school with old buddies.

Gerry's oldest sister, Thelma, at 88 was a delight to visit.  Her daughter, Carol, treated us to Bumbleberry pie, a delicious mixture of Marion berries, raspberries, rhubarb and blueberries.  (There goes the diet!).  We visited the wonderful little drug store where Thelma worked for many years.  It is a treasure trove of collectibles and all sorts of wonderful gifts.

A cousin of Terry's, Laurie Roberge, still lives in the area and we hooked up with her.  How delightful to discover she is also a scrapbooker.  Gerry ended up chauffeuring the ladies to the THREE scrapbook stores in the area.  We left on July 25th, 2002.
