Quantico, Virginia

2003

We found a great spot to camp at the Quantico Marine base.  The campground is out away from the base next to the FBI Academy.  Quantico is not far from Dale City, where we spent 10 years.  Our kids graduated from high school there and we logged many hours commuting up and down I95.  We had to check out our old neighborhood.  Lots of changes, new streets, wider streets, more traffic and lots of new homes and businesses.  Most of the people we knew have left the area, but did find a couple of old timers.  Nancy was an engineer at NavSea when I worked as contractor there and we've stayed in touch over the years.  Skiggy was the family's hairdresser and a good friend.  She used Mike as a model in a couple of shows and we took her waterskiing and snow skiing with us.  I took advantage of the opportunity to get a haircut and a perm.   The Potomac Canons have a ballpark in Dale City now and Gerry was tickled to find they were playing the Myrtle Beach Pelicans while we were in the area.  He managed to make it to 3 of the 4 games.  Unfortunately, there were not a lot of fans in attendance and he was able to hold his own as a Pelicans fan among the home town fans.
