Memphis, Tennessee

Gerry spent at least a third of his 34 and a half years in the Navy at the Bureau of Naval Personnel and the Military Personnel Command in Washington, D.C..  Both those organizations have since moved to the Naval Support Activity, Memphis located in Millington, Tennessee a few miles northeast of Memphis.  They also have an RV park there where we stayed.  We did check out the Navy facility and met several young officers who work there at the Bureau.  The facilities are very nice!  The cost of living can't be as bad as Washington, D.C.  There is a golf course there as well and we had a chance to check it out.   

Graceland was the highlight of Memphis.  Elvis purchased the mansion and 13 acres for $100,000.  It's a must-stop for tourists, especially Elvis fans.  I didn't realize that he had so many hit records in his career - 131.
