Colorado River Adventure - Yuma Lakes

2002

Summer is no time to visit this area.  The temperature was 110 degrees this afternoon.  The RV park we stopped at was the first Coast to Coast park that we've had a chance to visit since we joined at Lake Pointe.  As a courtesy, the park here let us stay overnight; however, the park is actually closed for the season.  Although there are hundreds of spaces that are filled during the winter months, only a handful of the spaces were in use.  We were able to use the swimming pool and the laundry room.

There are countless RV parks throughout Arizona and New Mexico catering to the folks escaping from the miserable cold of the north.  But with temperatures approaching and reaching triple digits, most are empty.  How different they must be when transformed by all kinds of RVs in every space with colorful awnings, camping tables, chairs and lights... and people.

At this park, a 5-star Colorado River Adventure resort, there is plenty to do, including fishing and boating on a small lake on the property.  There's a swimming pool, hot tub, putting green and miniature golf, shuffleboard, two clubhouses, with pool tables and a kitchen and dining room where breakfast is served 6 days a week during the winter season.  Lots of group activities are also planned then.  Yuma is also only 20 miles from the Mexican border, so visitors can park their cars and walk across the bridge to visit Mexican shops and restaurants.
